"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full"
John 10:10
Jesus came to release us - from the sin, temptation and death which all of creation is subject to since the fall of man (Genesis 3). As we journey through seasons in life God reminds us through His creation (Isaiah 40:8) of the hope that Jesus brings.
In the current season ~ skies are blue, air cool and colours fading; winter is coming but as gardens are cleared and leaves swept so it is the time to plant fresh bulbs which will 'hibernate' until spring.
It is Jesus' death that brings us life (Easter) and as we take up our cross (walk in Jesus ways) and die to our selfish desires (1John 2: 3-6) then new life is created within. Jesus speaks also of the new heaven and new earth to come (Revelation 21:2) - and the whole of creation being subject to birth pains (Romans 8:22-23) as we await the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ ~ which heralds this new beginning.
As we turn to thoughts of Christmas and Jesus coming...are we prepared?
what is there, if anything, in your life which hinder the fullness that God intends for you now?
what good could you do today that would help a neighbour, local community, international situation?
"The heavenly city of God in the book of Revelation points to a way of life that must begin in the earthly city of man"
