Redemption....
'to atone or make amends for' (Oxford dictionary)
"..you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light" 1 Peter 2:9
God chose us and called us out of darkness into His light (1 Peter 2). Before we were called by Him we were without hope - apart from Christ and separated from Him by sin (Ephesians 2). But God provided redemption - the price of our wrong doing - in Jesus, who willingly (but not easily) gave himself for us (John 11 50-52). Jesus is our Saviour, our redemeer and our peace. (Ephesians 2:14). Because He paid the price we are no longer slaves to sin (Romans 6:18) or children of darkness, but of light and promise (Acts 2 39-9).
Use the words of the old hymn below to express your thanks and praise to God!

To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the lifegate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done!
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things he hath taught us, great things he hath done,
and great our rejoicing thru Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be our wonder,
our transport, when Jesus we see.
