​Father
 
"God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, the generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of an eagle's flight, the joy of a spring morning, the faith of a mustard seed, the patience of eternity, the depth of family need. Then God combined these qualities, there was nothing more to add. He knew his masterpiece was complete, and so, He called it - Dad"
 

The poem above is by an unknown author but it does describe qualities with which God himself as a heavenly father provides us with ~ and some of those He instills in and expects our earthly fathers to display.
 
The Bible contains many examples of fathering - both good and less so. In the new testament the life of Jesus describes the perfect father/son relationship between God and His people. John 14:7, Gal 3:26 - 4:7, 1John.  
 
 
Read the above references and consider any other examples of fathers/fathering you may have come across in your bible.. Noah (Gen 6-9) - a righteous man who provided for and protected his family; Saul - who tried to kill David because of jealousy (1Samuel 18 - 19); Joseph rejected by his brothers because of his father Israel's favouritism (Gen 37); God's care for Hagar's son  (Gen 21 1-20)
 
The Bible expects discipline Prov 3:12 and teaches fathers to teach their children Eph 6:4.

"Father-like he tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows;
In his hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes..."
(from hymn "praise my soul the king of heaven")
