"Everyone of you should be quick to listen, slow to speak..." James 1:19
Listening ~ Most of us listen; we hear with our ears; sense with our bodies; 'listen with our eyes'. We hear the sound of voices, the wind, the atmosphere around us. We learn and take note; communicate and respond.
The Bible encourages us to listen to God. Isaiah 55 includes the words: "hear me, that your soul may live" |
~ what we hear or not can affect our lives for ever. People need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and His words that bring eternal life. We are also taught to be careful of words that can draw us away from the truth. "The tongue has the power of life and death.." Proverbs 18:21.
Take extra care today to "listen to what you hear" in conversation, Tv, radio, music or your own language. Is it true, holy, right and uplifting? or might it be false, degrading... otherwise?
there is truth in the old saying "rubbish in, rubbish out!"
Dear Lord,
Please help me to hear you today and give me a spirit of wisdom and discernment so that I may receive only what is good and speak the same,
In Jesus name, Amen

(unknown quote) our ears and mouth should be used in proportion to how many we've been given of them 2:1!
