Value ~ Jesus anointed at Bethany
While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.." Matthew 26 6-13
God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). He has an eternal perspective that shapes everything (Ecclesiastes 3:11). God cares for the poor and commands us to (Matthew 25 31-46) but His concern does not eclipse His value of and purpose for His Son.
God showed His care and value of us in the giving of His only Son that we might be adopted as His children and become heirs of His eternal Kingdom (John 3:16, Romans 8 14-17).
Does His value of you shape your life / how you behave / guide your decisions?
Thank God that you belong to Him and pray that increasingly you would have the mind of Christ (1Corinthians 2:16)
